Presentation

A clear sterile colourless aqueous solution for parenteral administration. Each ml contains: 30 mg Lidocaine Hydrochloride.

12.5 micrograms Epinephrine (as Epinephrine Bitartrate). Also contains Chlorocresol 1 mg as a preservative.

Uses

A local anaesthetic for subcutaneous infiltration and peripheral nerve block in horses and domestic animals other than those producing food for human consumption.

Dosage and administration

Approximately half the total dose should be administered initially with the remainder given to two further incremental doses until the desired level of anaesthesia is obtained.

Do not exceed the dosage volume required to achieve the desired effect.

The following are the recommended maximum doses for subcutaneous infiltration in adult domestic animals which should not be exceeded:

Horses - 200ml

Dogs - 30ml

Cats - 5ml

Contra-indications, warnings, etc

For animal treatment only. Do not administer intravenously, epidurally or intra-articularly. Not to be used to produce complete ring block of an extremity because of the danger of ischaemic necrosis. Not to be used in animals known to be hypersensitive to any of the active ingredients.

Undesirable effects

Early signs of toxicity include convulsions and other signs of CNS disturbance. These may be treated by the use of short acting barbiturates or muscle relaxants. Terminal signs of toxicity consist of respiratory depression and circulatory collapse. Appropriate therapy, including artificial respiration should be applied. Changes in coat colour at the site of injection have been reported in horses. Use with caution for lower limb block in horses due to risk of ischaemia.

Use during pregnancy and lactation:

No specific studies have been conducted with the product in pregnant or lactating animals.

Interactions with other medications: None known.

Withdrawal periods

Horse meat: zero days.

Pharmaceutical precautions

Store in a refrigerator (2-8°C) and protect from light.

Keep out of reach and sight of children. Following withdrawal of the first dose, use the product within 28 days.
