AMTRA
The Animal Medicines Training Regulatory Authority
A leaflet with some information about AMTRA is enclosed with the Compendium publication. AMTRA is grateful to NOAH for including this leaflet.
AMTRA was first established (under an earlier name) in 1984, as the body holding the Register of SQPs (Suitably Qualified Persons).
In 1991 at the request of NOAH, AMTRA established what is now known as the Register of Marketing Authorisation Holders (MAH) Representatives. This was drawn up to ensure that all representatives of marketing authorisation holders undergo thorough training and possess sufficient veterinary and technical knowledge to present information on the company's products in an accurate and responsible manner.
Additionally, AMTRA is recognised by the Secretary of State under the Veterinary Medicines Regulations as the body responsible for both training SQPs and holding the Register of current SQPs.
AMTRA is responsible to NOAH for offering an MAH representatives qualification - a qualification required by NOAH under its Code of Practice for the Promotion of Animal Medicines - and maintaining a register of qualified MAH representatives.
More information about AMTRA is contained in the AMTRA leaflet referred to above.
