Presentation
Auroto is a pale yellow ear drops solution containing:
Thiabendazole | 4.0 % w/v |
Tetracaine Hydrochloride | 1.0 % w/v |
Neomycin Sulphate | 0.5 % w/v |
Uses
Auroto Ear Drops are indicated for the treatment of Otitis externa associated with bacteria, fungi and ear mites in dogs and cats.
Mode of action: Thiabendazole has acaricidal and fungicidal activity and is effective against Otodectes cynotis.
Neomycin Sulphate is a broad spectrum antibiotic which is particularly effective against Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Staphylococcus aureus, Proteus vulgaris and some Streptococci.
Tetracaine Hydrochloride is an effective topical local anaesthetic.
Dosage and administration
Instil 3–5 drops into the external auditory canal, less in smaller animals, twice daily for 7 days. Any excess exudate, hair or debris should be carefully removed before application.
Contra-indications, warnings, etc
FOR EXTERNAL USE ONLY.
Do not use concomitantly with drugs known to be ototoxic. If hypersensitivity develops, discontinue use and institute appropriate therapy.
Do not use if the eardrum is perforated.
Do not use in animals less than 4 kg bodyweight in the first half of pregnancy.
Do not use for longer than 7 days (superinfection and cross resistance may result from prolonged usage).
Cats may react with ataxia, nystagmus and deafness, especially if the tympanum is perforated or damaged.
If you notice any serious effects or other effects not mentioned in the leaflet, please inform your veterinary surgeon.
Operator warnings: Wash hands thoroughly after use. If any splashes enter the eye wash immediately with copious water.
In the event of accidental ingestion - seek medical attention showing the package leaflet to the doctor or nurse.
General precautions: For animal treatment only.
Pharmaceutical precautions
Do not store above 25°C. Do not refrigerate. Protect from light. Keep out of the reach and sight of children.
Do not use the same container for more than one patient.
When the container is opened for the first time, the date on which any product remaining in the container should be discarded should be calculated. A statement of the in-use shelf-life of the product is given on the package leaflet. The discard date should be written on the space provided on the label. Once opened the product should be used within 28 days.
Disposal: Dispose of used packaging in the household refuse. Unused product should be returned to the veterinary surgeon.
