Presentation

Millophyline-V oral tablets are round and sugar coated. They are colour coded according to dose strength.

100 mg Etamiphylline Camsilate - Red for use in dogs and cats.

200 mg Etamiphylline Camsilate - Pink for use in dogs only.

300 mg Etamiphylline Camsilate - White for use in dogs only.

Uses

As a cardiac and respiratory stimulant.

As an aid in the management of coughing, respiratory distress or cardiac conditions in dogs.

May be used as an adjunct to antibiotic therapy.

Dosage and administration

Orally - may be repeated no more frequently than every eight hours.

Strict dosage according to bodyweight may need adjusting after assessing the clinical signs.

In acute cases, treatment is best commenced by injection, subsequent dosage being given orally.

The length of treatment depends upon clinical response.

For long term use: After two weeks adjust the dosage to the minimum compatible with achieving the alleviation of clinical signs.

Contra-indications, warnings, etc

No data is available on use during pregnancy.

Do not use on animals less than 11 kg bodyweight.

Do not administer concurrently with other CNS stimulants.

Side-effects: Occasional CNS stimulation which is readily countered, if necessary, by the use of a suitable hypnotic.

If you notice any serious effects or other effects not mentioned in the leaflet, please inform your veterinary surgeon.

Overdosage: Empty the stomach by emesis or gastric lavage. Administer activated charcoal. Treat hypokalaemia with intravenous infusions of Potassium Chloride. Administer Diazepam intravenously to control convulsions.

Operator warnings: Wash hands after use.

In the event of accidental ingestion, seek medical attention taking the pack with you to show the doctor what has been taken.

General precautions: For animal treatment only.

Do not store above 25°C. Store in a dry place. Keep out of the reach and sight of children.

Disposal: Dispose of used packaging in the household refuse. Unused product should be returned to the veterinary surgeon.

Further information

Millophyline-V possesses most of the properties of Theophylline, but is soluble and relatively non-irritant to the gastric mucosa when given orally. However, the diuretic properties of Millophyline-V are low. The concurrent use of a suitable diuretic may be recommended.
