Uses

A bulk promoting agent (exerting its effect mainly by a hydrophilic action) for the control of stool consistency following surgery, and the management of infected anal sacs, constipation and diarrhoea in dogs. The Sterculia in Peridale takes up as much as 60 times its own volume of water, forming a gelatinous mass. This increases the bulk of the intestinal contents, promotes peristalsis and helps to ensure the easy passage of a soft stool. Sterculia is an otherwise inert substance, not absorbed and so not exerting any systemic effect.

Indications in dogs

- Management of infected anal sacs.

- Control of stool consistency following surgery.

- Control of specific and non-specific diarrhoea.

- Constipation.

Dosage and administration

For oral administration.

Dogs:
Up to 5 kg bodyweight:	½ level teaspoonful (1.5 g) daily
5-15 kg bodyweight:	1 level teaspoonful (3 g) once or twice daily
Over 15 kg bodyweight:	1 heaped teaspoonful (6 g) once or twice daily

The dose should be sprinkled over food or placed dry on the tongue.

Contra-indications, warnings, etc

Foreign body impaction when enterotomy or enterectomy is urgent.

In all cases, adequate supportive therapy should be administered where necessary.

During treatment care should be taken to provide an adequate supply of drinking water.

If signs of disease persist or appear, consult your veterinary surgeon.

If you notice any serious effects or other effects not mentioned in the leaflet, please inform your veterinary surgeon.

Operator warnings: Wash hands after administering the product.

In the event of accidental ingestion, drink plenty of water and seek medical advice.

Pharmaceutical precautions

Do not store above 25°C. Store in a dry place. Keep out of the reach and sight of children.

Do not use after the expiry date stated on the label.

Disposal: Dispose of empty packaging and any remaining product in the household refuse.
