Presentation

A pale, yellow, smooth, sterile ointment containing 1% chlortetracycline hydrochloride.

Uses

Aureomycin Ophthalmic Ointment is recommended for the treatment of New Forest Disease (Moraxella bovis infection) in cattle. For the treatment of ocular infections in cats and dogs.

Dosage and administration

For topical administration as an ophthalmic ointment.

Cattle

Apply up to 1/4 of a tube (depending on the size of the animal) to the infected eye at least every 24 hours, or more frequently as the severity of the conditions demands, until healing is complete.

Cats and dogs

Applied to the infected eye three times daily is normally sufficient, but treatment may be given more frequently if the severity of the condition demands.

If no clinical improvement is seen after seven days, alternative therapy should be considered.

Contra-indications, warnings, etc

To avoid transmission of infection use a separate tube for each animal.

Operator warning: Do not eat, smoke or drink whilst using the product. Wash hands thoroughly after use.

This preparation may cause a yellow staining of clothes.

Withholding period

For meat — zero days. For milk— zero hours.

Pharmaceutical precautions

Do not store above 25°C.

The contents of the tube should not be used later than one month after opening.

Care should be taken to avoid contamination of the contents during use.

Keep out of the reach and sight of children. For animal treatment only.
