Presentation

Pale-yellow, oblong, scored tablets containing 500 mg chlortetracycline hydrochloride on an inert carrier.

Uses

Chlortetracycline is a broad spectrum antibiotic active against a wide range of Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria.

Aureomycin Soluble Oblets are recommended for oral administration in calves for the treatment of respiratory infections caused by chlortetracycline sensitive organisms.

Dosage and administration

Calves—oral use: The therapeutic dosage of chlortetracycline in calves is 10–20 mg/kg bodyweight daily. This is achieved by administering 1–2 Oblets by mouth daily. They may be administered whole or crushed and dissolved in milk or water and administered immediately as a drench. Treatment should continue for 5–7 days.

Contra-indications, warnings, etc

Oral use in adult ruminants is not recommended.

Aureomycin is of low toxicity and side effects are rarely encountered. If suspected adverse reactions do occur treatment should be discontinued.

Wash hands thoroughly after use.

Withdrawal Period

Animals must not be slaughtered for human consumption during treatment.

Animals may be slaughtered for human consumption only after 25 days from the end of treatment.

Do not store above 25°C. Store in a dry place. Keep out of reach and sight of children. For animal treatment only.

Disposal of unused product

Dispose of any unused product and empty containers in accordance with guidance from your local waste regulation authority.
