Presentation

A stable aqueous solution containing the equivalent of Oxytetracycline Hydrochloride PhEur 100 mg/ml, plus Sodium Formaldehyde Sulphoxylate 0.15% w/v as antioxidant.

Uses

Oxytetracycline is active against a wide range of Gram-positive and Gram-negative pathogenic bacteria and certain rickettsia. Duphacycline 100 is indicated in the treatment and control of a wide range of common systemic, respiratory, gastrointestinal, urinary and local infections caused by, or associated with organisms sensitive to oxytetracycline.

Dosage and administration

By intramuscular or slow intravenous injection.

Cattle:

1.5–4 mg/kg body weight daily

Pigs:

2–9 mg/kg body weight daily

Milk taken from cows during treatment and for a period of 60 hours after treatment must not be used for human consumption.

Animals must not be slaughtered for human consumption during treatment. Animals may be slaughtered for human consumption only after 15 days from the last treatment.

General toxicity is low although collapse has been reported with tetracycline in weak and debilitated animals.

The period between the withdrawal from the container of the first and last doses should not be unduly prolonged.

Pharmaceutical precautions

Store at room temperature (not exceeding 25°C). Protect from light.

Keep out of reach of children.

Following withdrawal of first dose use the product within 28 days.

Discard unused material.
