Ampicillin is a broad-spectrum, bactericidal antibiotic, active against a wide range of both Gram-negative and Gram-positive organisms. Amfipen 15% is indicated in dogs, cats and horses for the treatment of infections caused by micro-organisms sensitive to ampicillin. Particular indications include infections of the gastro-intestinal, respiratory and urogenital tracts, infectious arthritis, local wounds or abscesses, septicaemia, secondary bacterial infections in viral or parasitic diseases, and where post-operative antibiotic cover is required.
