Dosage: In general, 7.5 mg/kg bodyweight once daily for 3–5 days.

It is recommended that in young animals and for severe infections, especially those caused by Gram-negative organisms a dosage of up to 10 mg/kg should be given.

Administer by intramuscular (horses) or subcutaneous (cats and dogs) injection. Massage the injection site after administration.

If a large dose volume is required the dose should be divided and administered at more than one site.

Treatment should normally be repeated at 24 hour intervals depending on clinical response. Alternatively antibiotic concentrations can be maintained by administration of Amfipen tablets or capsules, or by one or more doses of Amfipen LA where prolonged cover from a single injection is required.
