Presentation
Oily oral suspension of 0.4 % (w/v) altrenogest.
Uses
For the synchronisation of oestrus and improvement of litter size in sexually mature gilts. For the synchronisation of oestrus and improvement of farrowing rate and litter size in sows.
Dosage and administration
When pressed and released, the metering valve delivers one 5 ml dose (= 20 mg altrenogest).
Dosage
Gilts
One dose of 5 ml per gilt per day for 18 consecutive days given orally with feed for immediate consumption.
Sows
One dose of 5 ml per sow per day for 3 consecutive days given orally with feed for immediate consumption.
Administration
Do not shake before use. Add to feed immediately before administration. Discard any remaining medicated feed.
Individual or group feeding in troughs
Add Regumate Porcine as a top dressing to the feed in front of each pig.
Group feeding on the floor
Feed should be presented in such a manner that each pig is allowed sufficient floor space to get equal access to the feed. Once the animals have started feeding, dispense one dose of Regumate Porcine as a top dressing on the feed in front of each pig.
Contra-indications, warnings, etc
Not to be administered to male animals. Not to be administered to pregnant sows or to those suffering from uterine infection. Part-consumed feed must be disposed of with other waste feed and not given to any other animal. Ensure the correct dose is administered daily as under-dosing can lead to the formation of cystic follicles.
Operator warnings
Impervious gloves and suitable protective overalls must be worn when handling Regumate. Wash after using the product and before meals. Care must be taken to avoid any contact between the product and women of child-bearing age. It is recommended that such women should not be associated with the use of this product. Keep out of reach of children. For animal treatment only.
Overdose
No special precautions required. Doses of 20 times the recommended dose did not affect the pigs nor their off-spring.
Withdrawal period
Animals must not be slaughtered for human consumption during treatment. Pigs may be slaughtered for human consumption only after 24 days from the last treatment.
Disposal
Partly used and empty containers should be disposed of in accordance with any guidance from an appropriate waste regulation authority.
Pharmaceutical precautions
Do not store above 25 °C. Pressurised container: protect from sunlight. Do not puncture or incinerate the container.
