Presentation

A colourless liquid vaccine containing inactivated Leptospira canicola and L. icterohaemorrhagiae organisms.

Uses

For the active immunisation of dogs from 8 weeks of age against Leptospira canicola and Leptospira icterohaemorrhagiae to prevent mortality and to reduce clinical signs of Leptospira infections caused by these agents.

Onset of immunity: 14 days after primary vaccination.

The duration of immunity is one year.

Dosage and administration

Inject a 1 ml dose subcutaneously.

Basic vaccination consists of two injections. The first injection should be given from 8 weeks of age. The second injection, should be given 3 - 5 weeks later, from 12 weeks of age. It is recommended that booster vaccinations are given annually by administration of a single 1 ml dose.

Contra-indications, warnings, etc

For animal treatment only.

Do not vaccinate unhealthy animals.

In rare cases, immediately after injection, transient pain may occur at the injection site. A temperature increase of approximately 1°C lasting no more than a day may occur in rare cases. In rare circumstances a hypersensitivity reaction may occur, which may require appropriate symptomatic treatment.

In the absence of data from studies in seronegative bitches, EURICAN L should only be used in pregnant bitches which have been vaccinated before pregnancy.

No information is available on the safety and efficacy from concurrent use of this vaccine with any other except EURICAN DHPPi and EURICAN P. It is therefore recommended that vaccines other than these should not be administered within 14 days before or after vaccination with EURICAN L.

Do not mix with any other medicinal product except EURICAN DHPPi and EURICAN P.

In case of accidental self-injection, wash the area immediately with water.

Pharmaceutical precautions

Store and transport at +2°C to +8°C protected from light.

Keep out of reach of children.

Any unused product or waste material should be disposed of in accordance with national requirments.

Further information

Following administration of an overdose of the vaccine, no adverse effects were reported, other than those already mentioned in "Contraindications, Warnings" and transitory and slight swelling at the injection site.
