Denagard 2% Premix:  Dosage and administration

Denagard 2% Premix
Dosage and administration
For the treatment and control of ileitis
The dose is 7.5mg tiamulin hydrogen fumarate per kg body weight daily, administered for 14 days. An inclusion rate of 7.5kg of the product (equivalent to 150g tiamulin hydrogen fumarate) per one tonne of feed should provide this dose in growing pigs.
For the treatment of clinical swine dysentery and colitis
The dose is 5mg tiamulin hydrogen fumarate per kg body weight daily, administered for 7 to 10 days.
An inclusion rate of 5kg Denagard 2% Premix (equivalent to 100g tiamulin hydrogen fumarate) per 1 tonne of feed should provide this dose in growing pigs.
Following recovery, continue medication at the preventative level to prevent recurrence of the disease.
For the control and prevention of swine dysentery
The dose is 1.5-2mg tiamulin hydrogen fumarate per kg bodyweight, administered throughout the period of risk to control re-infection.
An inclusion rate of 1.5-2kg Denagard 2% Premix (equivalent to 30-40g tiamulin hydrogen fumarate) per 1 tonne of feed should provide this dose in growing pigs.
Feed throughout the period of risk to control reinfection.
As an aid in the control of enzootic pneumonia complex in pigs
The dose is 1.5-2mg tiamulin hydrogen fumarate per kg bodyweight daily administered for up to 2 months during the period of risk.
An inclusion rate of 1.5-2kg Denagard 2% Premix (equivalent to 30-40g tiamulin hydrogen fumarate) per 1 tonne of feed should provide this dose in growing pigs.
Inclusion rates
When medicating larger pigs including breeding animals or where inappetance occurs, the inclusion level may need adjusting as follows to give the correct dose.
Example
Dose – 2mg tiamulin hydrogen fumarate per kg bodyweight
(weight × 2mg) ÷ intake = dose
Dose – 5mg tiamulin hydrogen fumarate per kg bodyweight
(weight × 5mg) ÷ intake = dose
where
weight = average pig bodyweight in kg
intake = average daily feed intake in kg
dose = g. tiamulin hydrogen fumarate per tonne feed
When mixing small quantities, it is advisable to hand-mix the required amount of premix into approximately 20 kg of feed or feed supplement prior to mixing into the complete feed.
