Oxytetracycline possesses broad spectrum antimicrobial activity against a wide range of gram positive and gram negative bacteria, certain mycoplasmas, protozoa, rickettsiae and Chlamydia. Oxytetracycline is bacteriostatic and acts by inhibiting protein synthesis within the cell.
