Alizin
Contra-indications, warnings, etc
For animal treatment only. Nor-steroids are used in humans to induce abortion. Accidental injection may be a particular hazard to women who are pregnant, intending to become pregnant or whose pregnancy status is unknown. Care should be taken by the veterinary surgeon when handling the product and the person restraining the dog to AVOID ACCIDENTAL SELF-INJECTION. This is an oil-based product that may cause prolonged local reactions at the site of injection. In case of accidental injection seek urgent medical advice and show the doctor this warning.
Not to be used in animals with known hypersensitivity to the active ingredient.
Keep out of the reach of children.
In bitches confirmed as pregnant, a partial abortion may occur in up to 5% of cases; owners should be warned to this effect. A clinical examination (uterine palpation) is always recommended 10 days after treatment and at least 30 days after mating in order to confirm termination of pregnancy.
The administration of Alizin may produce transient pain at the injection site; any local inflammation produced is also resolves uneventfully.
In bitches treated beyond the twentieth day of gestation, abortion may be accompanied by the physiological signs of parturition, i.e. foetal expulsion, slight anorexia and mammary congestion.
After induced abortion with Alizin an early return to oestrus is frequently observed (the oestrus to oestrus interval may be shortened by one to three months).
