Pharmacological particulars
Pharmacotherapeutic group: Endectocides. ATC vet code: QP54AA01
Pharmacodynamic properties
Ivermectin is a compound of the avermectin class of anthelmintics. Ivermectin paralyses and/or kills a wide range of invertebrate parasites through interference with their chloride channel conductance causing disruption of normal neurotransmission. This inhibits the electrical activity of nerve cells in nematodes and muscle cells in arthropods leading to their paralysis and/or death.
Pharmacokinetic particulars
Following treatment the active ingredient will be absorbed by the skin and fur of the animal and will become systemically available.
